Women Empowerment

Our initiatives focus on empowering women through skill development and education, fostering independence and leadership in rural communities, and enhancing their roles in sustainable development.

At IIRD, women are at the heart of rural transformation. We mobilize and strengthen self-help groups (SHGs), train grassroots women leaders, and support income-generating activities like organic farming, tailoring, dairy, and herbal healthcare. More than 3,000 women farmers have been trained in eco-friendly agriculture, leading to improved food security and economic stability. Through our all-women Mahagreen Producer Company and over 400 Mahila Mandals, we ensure that women gain a voice in local decision-making and governance. These initiatives not only uplift individual women but also promote gender equity, economic resilience, and sustainable growth across entire communities.

Organic Farming

We promote organic farming practices that enhance food security, improve health, and support sustainable livelihoods, ensuring a greener future for rural communities through education and resource access.

IIRD empowers farmers to shift from chemical-intensive agriculture to sustainable, organic methods that regenerate soil health and protect biodiversity. We provide training in composting, bio-input production, and seed conservation, helping over 3,000 farmers—many of them women—restore more than 8,000 acres of land. Our initiatives include establishing seed banks, promoting indigenous crop varieties, and facilitating direct farmer-to-consumer markets through Organic Bazaars. By reducing dependency on expensive external inputs and creating value-added opportunities, organic farming not only improves rural incomes but also builds climate resilience and long-term food sovereignty.
